Later, she would start a career working for the South African Broadcasting Corporation as a sports presenter (SABC). The national broadcaster has since expressed its sympathies to the Shongwe family.

Shongwe spent more than six years as a news anchor at METRO FM. Additionally, she served as managing director of Lolonga Holdings, a business based in Johannesburg, Gauteng.

Shongwe has worked as a marketing manager at LLL Consultants, a media coordinator at Red Cherry TV, and a marketing assistant at Look & Listen, according to her LinkedIn profile. Shongwe began working at Mercury Media in 2007 as a Junior Account Executive.

At the Tshwane University of Technology, Shongwe studied corporate communications, advertising, and marketing (TUT). Shongwe took part in the choir, tennis, and ballroom dance teams at TUT.

Shongwe also attended Varsity College, where she graduated with a diploma in project management. She was fluent in English, Afrikaans, IsiXhosa, Isizulu, SeTswana, and SiSwati.

According to a statement from Shongwe’s family that News24 quoted, the MetroFM newsreader’s dead body was found on her bed on Tuesday.

Shongwe’s exact location is still unknown. We learned that the 35-year-old woman’s worried neighbors from the Waterfall apartment complex called to see how she was doing on Tuesday morning.
