5 Holiday Beverages With More Fat Than a Burger

In fact, several popular holiday cocktails have more fat in them than a cheeseburger does! Although there is a big variation between the forms of fat and what they can do to your health, fat has a negative reputation.

For instance, foods including fish, nuts, seeds, and some vegetable oils include monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. These fats are regarded as healthful and are proven to support heart and brain function.

Trans fats and saturated fats, on the other hand, need to be consumed in moderation. Butter, fatty meat cuts, dairy products, and margarine all include saturated fats while fried foods, highly processed baked goods, and margarine have trans fats. Many holiday cocktails greatly exceed the recommended maximum of 13 grams of saturated fat per day from the American Heart Association in just one serving.

The top five holiday drinks from your favorite restaurants that are higher in fat (and saturated fat) than a McDonald’s cheeseburger are listed below, ranked by fat content. Do not worry; this does not exclude you from occasionally treating yourself. But let’s just say you’re definitely better off with a greasy burger if you’re trying to watch your fat content.

 

What they’re up against: The McDonald’s Cheeseburger

We are not about to claim that a McDonald’s cheeseburger is a healthy option, mind you. Read on to find out which holiday beverage contains nearly five times the amount of fat as this burger. However, several of the holiday beverages on this list have two or three times the fat level of this burger.

1. Starbucks Peppermint Mocha, Venti

The Venti Starbucks Peppermint Mocha is the item on our list with the least amount of fat. This warm coffee drink is stuffed with fat and festive happiness. It contains 68 grams of added sugar on top of the 18 grams of fat and 11 grams of saturated fat that it already contains.

2. Krispy Kreme Frozen Peppermint Mocha Latte, 20 oz

Although Krispy Kreme is most renowned for its hot, fresh donuts, it also offers mouthwatering, sugar-filled coffee drinks. And the frozen peppermint mocha latte is a favorite over the holidays. You might want to make a different decision if you’re trying to keep an eye on your fat-related calories. This frozen beverage comprises 119 grams of sugar, 740 calories, 23 grams of fat, 14 grams of saturated fat, which is twice as much as the cheeseburger!

In terms of nutritional value, a double cheeseburger from McDonald’s would still be substantially lower in calories and saturated fat.

 

3. IHOP Gingersnap Milkshake

We adore the inventive combination of gingersnap, vanilla, and red currants in the IHOP Gingersnap Milkshake, but we’re not huge lovers of the fact that this decadent holiday shake has roughly three times as much fat and four times as much saturated fat as a McDonald’s hamburger.

You could order a Quarter Pounder with Cheese at McDonald’s and yet ingest fewer calories, calories from fat, and saturated fat than you would if you ordered a cheeseburger or double cheeseburger.

4. Caribou Coffee Hot Spicy Mocha, XL

For those who enjoy a little kick with their coffee, a hot spicy mocha is a nice festive alternative, but this Caribou latte is packed with calories, fat, and saturated fat. This spicy mocha has 850 calories, 46 grams of fat, and 29 grams of saturated fat. This quantity of saturated fat is more than double the daily recommended amount and nearly five times what you would find in a hamburger.

Compared to a cheeseburger, double cheeseburger, Quarter Pounder with cheese, Quarter Pounder with bacon, and a Big Mac, this drink from Caribou has more fat and saturated fat!

5. Shake Shack Chocolate Milk & Cookies Shake

The Shake Shack Chocolate Milk & Cookies Shake is one of the fatty and calorie-dense holiday drinks on the market. 1,100 calories, 102 grams of sugar, 62 grams of fat, and 34 grams of saturated fat make up the weight of this shake. This has more than five times as much saturated fat as a cheeseburger and more than four times as much total fat.

The Smoky BLT Quarter Pounder with Cheese, which has 990 calories and 25 grams of saturated fat, is the McDonald’s burger with the highest calorie and saturated fat content. This drink contains more calories and saturated fat than a burger.

If these beverages make you happy over the holidays, you don’t have to avoid them permanently. However, if you plan to indulge this season, it’s crucial to understand the nutritional content of your choices.
