The series, executive produced and narrated by Mark Harmon, delves into the origins of Leroy Jethro Gibbs, a character beloved by fans worldwide.

The story unfolds in 1991, years before the events of “NCIS,” focusing on Gibbs’ early career as a special agent at the NIS Camp Pendleton office. This setting provides a gritty backdrop for Gibbs to forge his place on a ragtag team led by NCIS legend Mike Franks, played by Kyle Schmid.

The recent casting additions include Daniel Bellomy, known for his role in “Power Book II: Ghost,” Caleb Martin Foote, from “Made For Love,” and Robert Taylor, best recognized for his work in “Longmire.” These actors will join the series in recurring roles, adding layers of complexity and intrigue to the narrative. Bellomy will play Special Agent Granville “Granny” Dawson, a “probie” eager to work his way up to field agent, while Foote will portray Special Agent Benjamin “Randy” Randolf, a father figure to young twins who guides newly minted Agent Gibbs. Taylor will step into the shoes of the late Ralph Waite, playing Jackson Gibbs, the father of Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

In addition to these new additions, Tyla Abercrumbie and Diany Rodriguez have been cast in the main roles of Field Operation Support Officer Mary Jo and Vera Strickland, respectively. Abercrumbie, known for her work on “The Chi,” brings a unique perspective to the character of Mary Jo, who is described as both a product of her time and the lifeblood of the Camp Pendleton office. Rodriguez, best known for her role on “The Blacklist,” will portray the younger version of Vera Strickland, a no-nonsense, sharp-witted Brooklynite who has spent her career being underestimated by misogynistic morons.
