Newsypeople- Jessica Alba, the co-founder of The Honest Company, announced her decision to step down from her role as Chief Creative Officer (CCO) after 12 years with the company. This announcement came as a surprise to many, as Alba had been instrumental in the growth and success of The Honest Company, a lifestyle brand known for its commitment to natural and safe products for babies and families.
Alba’s journey with The Honest Company began in 2011, when she was pregnant and had an allergic reaction to her laundry detergent. This experience sparked the idea for Honest, a company dedicated to providing safe and affordable products for babies and families. Over the years, The Honest Company expanded its product line to include clean cosmetics, skin-care essentials, household cleaning products, diapers, wipes, and more, all free of potentially harmful ingredients and packaged with eco-friendly materials.

Despite the challenges, including a class-action lawsuit in 2017 that claimed the company had used synthetic ingredients in its products, The Honest Company managed to overcome these hurdles and went public in 2021 at an estimated value of $1.5 billion. However, the company’s revenue reportedly took a dip following the IPO and continued to flag in the following years, although it reported its first profitable quarter since 2021 in March 2024.
In her Instagram post, Alba expressed her gratitude for the journey she had shared with The Honest Company, describing it as “a true labor of love.” She highlighted the company’s milestones, from the initial concept to its public listing on the Nasdaq Stock Market. Alba also expressed her trust in the company’s CEO, Carla Vernón, to continue advancing the company’s founding vision and strengthening its legacy as an industry change-maker.
Although Alba is stepping down from her CCO role, she plans to remain involved with The Honest Company, providing strategic advice through her role on the board. This decision marks a significant chapter in Alba’s entrepreneurial journey, as she shifts her focus towards new endeavors while leaving a lasting impact on The Honest Company and its mission to provide safe and natural products for families.
