Kravitz’s Journey To Authenticity

Lenny Kravitz is an iconic American singer-songwriter. He has had a great career because he stayed true to his artistic vision and embraced the diverse influences that have shaped his music. His multiracial and multiethnic upbringing in Los Angeles set the stage for this.
His father was Ukrainian Jewish while his mother was Afro-Caribbean. Consequently, he was able to seamlessly blend rock, funk, soul, and R&B into an eclectic sound.

Although tempted with record deals at the beginning of his music career, Kravitz did not succumb to them. He turned down these lucrative contracts because he did not want to be forced into any category or style that would appeal to certain types of people more than others even if it meant sacrificing recognition and money he needed desperately at times when his body told him otherwise
From the outset, Kravitz has always been different from everyone else in his unwavering dedication to being real. He has lived life as a series of contradictions; growing up both black & white with Jewish as well as Christian influences and enjoying music by Jackson 5 equally alongside Led Zeppelin.

He did not view these things In his mind they were not conflicting Rather  beautiful opposites which increased his scope and made more vibrant the expression of his talent. He took all these diverse sources (of inspiration) around the world in search of their telling truths in sound without regard for genre or culture. “Yet, he didn’t let it discourage him but rather chose to look at those who had made it his stepping stones. Knowing that he was moving ahead of the time or what was being done, Kravitz bravely accepted not getting instant gratification as part of the process so long as he stayed true to his path and derived pleasure from creating music

Recognizing nearly forty years in the industry, Kravitz now receives credit where it’s due. He has bagged four Grammy Awards back to back and his eleven studio albums sold 40 million copies around the world hence a Hollywood Walk of Fame star making him impossible to ignore in any musical discussion. Nevertheless, he is thankful for life and every opportunity that comes with it. As an icon for artistic genuineness and independence, Lenny’s heritage will forever live on through inspiring future generations of musicians and other creatives to be themselves boldly while following their hearts.
