- Jason Bateman faced criticism from PETA for endorsing Organic Valley on his podcast “Smartless,” accusing the dairy company of spreading “false and misleading marketing claims”.
- PETA argued that Organic Valley’s products are not ethically sourced, as the cows used for dairy production are subjected to a harsh milking process, including being hooked up to machines and milked multiple times a day, and artificially impregnated to maintain milk production.
- The organization highlighted the cows’ trauma from this process, including respiratory issues, udder infections, and hoof injuries, and called for Bateman to stop promoting the dairy company on his podcast.
Jason Bateman has been criticized by PETA for an ad he read for a dairy company on his podcast, “Smartless.” In a letter obtained by TMZ, PETA accused Bateman of spreading “false and misleading marketing claims” about Organic Valley, a dairy company that produces dairy products like milk.
PETA took issue with Bateman’s claim that Organic Valley’s products are ethically sourced from small family farms, as they argue that the cows used for dairy production are harmed in the collection process.

They pointed out that cows used for mass consumption dairy products are typically hooked up to machines and milked two or more times per day, rather than being allowed to suckle their calves.
To ensure a constant supply of milk, these cows are repeatedly and artificially impregnated, which PETA describes as a “vicious cycle” that causes trauma to the cows.
This process allegedly leads to respiratory issues, udder infections, and other health problems for the cows. PETA is concerned that Bateman’s ad might mislead the public and has asked him to no longer run the promotion on his podcast.
This incident marks the second time Bateman has been at odds with PETA. In 2019, PETA criticized a Hyundai Super Bowl ad starring Bateman, in which a vegan dinner party was mocked as gross. The organization’s concerns about Bateman’s ads highlight their ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the treatment of animals in the dairy industry and other sectors.
