Kylian Mbappe World Cup Goal Record: Kylian Mbappe has already outscored Thierry Henry in terms of goals during the World Cup.
He also passed Zinedine Zidane to become Les Bleus’ joint seventh-highest scorer all-time after scoring twice in their 2-1 group-stage victory over Denmark to guarantee his nation’s participation in the round of 16.
Kylian Mbappe World Cup Goal Record: He Has Risen Up France’s All-Time Top Scorer Rankings Twice This Week
The 23-year-old already garnered media attention this week when he scored against Australia in their opening match in Qatar, propelling him into France’s top 10 all-time scorers.
He now has more World Cup goals than Henry, the nation’s all-time leading scorer, thanks to his brace against the Danes.
Between 1997 and 2010, Henry scored six goals for the national team at the World Cup.
And Mbappe, who is only 23 years old, has surpassed that total with seven goals after scoring four goals in the 2018 World Cup in Russia and three goals in Qatar.
Additionally, he has increased his overall goal total for his nation to 31, which puts him joint ninth with another former national hero, Zinedine Zidane.
After a dull first half, Mbappe’s first goal on Saturday gave his nation the lead shortly after the hour mark. After Andreas Christensen had equalized for Denmark, he later scored again to give his team the lead.
