Lopetegui, who used to manage Real Madrid, Spain, and Sevilla among others, expressed his delight at joining West Ham by saying that it was “where I want to be” and that they chose him just as much as he chose them.

The 57-year-old also feels that the “incredible bases” Moyes built, which included qualifying for Europe three years in a row including winning the Conference League last season, provides the perfect foundation for further growth at the club. This appointment indicates a significant change in the Hammers’ approach towards coaching; becoming more European-centric with Tim Steidten taking greater responsibility over recruitment as Technical Director.

Stein lauded Lopetegui’s tactical nous and talent development skills while dubbing him an “exceptional candidate” for the job. Previously the manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers during the latter part of the 2022/23 campaign where he rescued them from the bottom three finishes by securing 13th place overall, the new boss has had some Premier League experience before. The style of coaching favored by Lopetegui rests upon tactical flexibility and the growth of individual players within teams.

He is famed for being able to adjust his formations according to different situations – therefore fans should expect an attacking possession-based game under his regime at West Ham. It was after an extensive search process that loped for this post, looking at his track record as well as what he intends to do with our club going forward.

Welcoming him into our family both sets players excited about starting afresh together; (we are) particularly itching for the Leicester City game which happens to be his debut match. The arrival of Julen promises new dynamism ambition and perspectives towards success which were hitherto limited only within Europe’s four-fullest dreams or perhaps one could say it was championsleague stuff at reached european front.

Lopetegui’s coaching philosophy is built on teamwork, tactical discipline, and efficient use of possession1. He has worked in many capacities during his career which started with him being a goalkeeper at Real Madrid, Logroñes, Barcelona and Rayo Vallecano having won a single cap for the Spain national team. He began coaching with Rayo Vallecano in 2003 then moved to Real Madrid Castilla before serving as manager for various Spanish youth sides where he won the European Under-19 Championship in 2012 and followed that up by claiming the Under-21 Championship two years later.
