Nigerian singer Mayorkun has revealed that he plans to sign a prenuptial agreement before marriage and conduct DNA tests on his future children.
Speaking on the In My Opinion podcast, the singer said he once discussed the issue with a woman he was seriously involved with, telling her he wanted the test for his “peace of mind.”
According to Mayorkun, the woman was upset by the suggestion, adding that he did not think any woman would take such a request well.
He compared DNA testing to signing a prenup, saying men now need to take precautions to protect themselves from situations where they could raise children who are not biologically theirs.
Mayorkun also said he had considered conducting a DNA test without telling his partner, arguing that knowing the result would give him peace of mind.
The singer acknowledged that discussing such an arrangement with a partner could be difficult but insisted that he considers it necessary for his future family.
He also referenced cases where men reportedly discovered years later that children they had raised were not biologically theirs, saying such situations could be particularly painful for older men.
Mayorkun said his current partner is already aware of his position on both prenups and DNA tests, although he acknowledged that she is not happy about it.
