According to NPR, his father, Robert Crimo Jr., turned himself into the police on Friday and is now being charged with seven counts of reckless conduct, one for each of the victims of the shooting.

State’s Attorney for Lake County Eric Rinehart said, “Parents and guardians are in the greatest position to decide whether their teenagers should have a weapon.” “When Robert Crimo Jr. sponsored his kid in this case, the system fell short. He signed the form despite knowing what he knew.

When the older Crimo signed the document, he was aware that his son had vowed to “murder everyone” in the family five months prior and attempted suicide with a blade in April 2019.

In December 2019, Crimo Jr. funded his son’s application for a firearm license. In a letter to NPR, his attorney, George M. Gomez, called the accusations “baseless and unprecedented.”

Gomez released a statement in which he said, “This decision should alarm every single parent in the United States of America who, according to the Lake County State’s Attorney, knows exactly what is going on with their 19-year-old adult children and can be held criminally liable for actions taken nearly three years later.” “These accusations are baseless, and we will fight them at every turn.

Apparently disguising himself as a lady before and after the mass shooting from a rooftop overlooking the parade route was Crimo III, a want to be a rapper who performed as Awake the Rapper. He used aggressive language and images in his rap lyrics and videos.

Following his release, he will be subject to a curfew, have a drug and alcohol ban, and be required to relinquish his concealed carry permit, firearm owner’s ID card, and any dangerous weapons he may have. He must return to court on January 12.
