How Jniour Pope Boat Accident Happened
Junior Pope, a popular Nollywood actor known for his roles in over 150 movies, tragically died in a boat accident while traveling to film a movie in Nigeria’s Delta state. The incident occurred on a movie set titled “The Other Side Of Life,” produced by Adamma Luke, at the waterside of River Niger Cable Point, Asaba, Delta State. The boat capsized during the filming, leading to the drowning of Junior Pope and four other crew members. One other person, identified as Mr. Friday, also died in the accident, while three bodies were not recovered.
The National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, confirmed that Junior Pope survived the accident initially when slight movements of his fingers were noticed. However, despite efforts by two notable hospitals to revive him, he was pronounced dead. The AGN President expressed sadness over the short-lived joy of Junior Pope’s survival and the tragic loss of his life. Hours before the accident, Junior Pope had shared a video on his Instagram page of him and his crew traveling to the movie location on a boat. He expressed concerns about the lack of safety measures and prayed for a safe journey. Despite initial reports that he had survived the accident and was being treated in a hospital, efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead.
The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) announced the indefinite suspension of any film involving riverine areas and boat riding following the tragic incident. The AGN also banned actors from working with Adamma Luke as a producer until further notice, as a mark of respect and to prevent similar accidents in the future.
