Mabbitt’s family, who continue to receive support from specialist police officers, paid tribute to her in a statement, highlighting her kindness, gentleness, and the significant role she played in uniting the family. They described her as a wonderful daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, and cousin, and expressed their deep sorrow over her untimely passing, acknowledging the immense heartache and pain they are experiencing.

Charges And Prosecution

The charges against Cameron Jones will be prosecuted in Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates’ Court. Jones, 29, is facing multiple charges, including causing death by dangerous driving, driving a vehicle without a license or insurance, failing to stop following a road traffic collision, failing to report a road traffic collision, and causing death whilst disqualified from driving. These charges stem from a fatal car crash on Swansea Road in Merthyr Tydfil on April 5, which resulted in the death of Demi Mabbitt, a 25-year-old woman from Aberfan, a week later on April 12.

During his court appearance, Jones confirmed his name and address but did not speak further. The prosecution will likely present evidence related to the crash, including any available surveillance footage, witness statements, and any other relevant documentation to support the charges against him. The outcome of the prosecution will depend on the strength of the evidence presented and the legal arguments made by both the prosecution and Jones’s defense.
