Nadal And Ruud Turin 2022 Thursday: Rafael Nadal, the former world number one, had a challenging ATP final. He struggled, dropping both of his opening two matches to guarantee he wouldn’t advance to the knockout rounds.
Additionally, it meant that his match against the group’s champion, Casper Ruud, would end in a draw. But with a valiant victory and a display of class, Nadal gave the Turin audience something to cheer about.
On Thursday afternoon in Turin, Rafael Nadal defeated Casper Ruud in straight sets, 7-5 7-5, to win his final group stage match of the 2022 ATP Finals.
Despite playing some solid tennis, group leader Ruud forced Nadal—who entered the match already eliminated after a difficult start—to work for his points.

Ruud made a series of nervous errors off both wings, giving Nadal triple set points. He then won the point with a forehand winner and won the game with a volley at the net.
Similarly, no player was able to even register a break point opportunity during the second set.
