Maguire Taken Off From Game After Apparent Head Injury In England’s Victory Over Iran

Late in England’s World Cup opener victory over Iran, Harry Maguire was carried off with what appeared to be a head injury, raising concerns about a potential concussion.
Despite having a challenging season with Manchester United, Maguire put on a strong performance upon returning to international action.
He contributed to England’s second goal, caused trouble in the area, and was effective from corners.

However, after Iran scored to make the score 4-1, Maguire sat on the ground and needed medical attention.
He was examined, walked off the field, and went into the tunnel despite it being unclear what had happened to him.
Former England midfielder Jermaine Jenas commented on the BBC, “He doesn’t look right; you can see it in his eyes.”
Eric Dier, a defender for Tottenham, took over for Maguire.
Farcical events occurred earlier in the game when Iran goalie Alireza Beiranvand tried to continue following a head collision only to pass out and be carried away on a stretcher.
Under Erik ten Hag, Maguire has lost his starting position for Manchester United this year.
In the Premier League, he has only made three starts and has missed many games because of thigh injuries.
He has played frequently for England under Gareth Southgate, and his performance against Iran demonstrated why the boss still believes in him.
He performed very well in the first half, according to Jenas.
Maguire has enormous pressure, but if he can perform as well as he did in the first half in both boxes, he can be proud of himself and hold his head high. A positive move was taken in the correct way.
On Friday, November 25, England will play the USA in its subsequent Group B match.
