Jon Rahm has cleared a major hurdle in his golf career after reaching a conditional release agreement with the DP World Tour last week, paving the way for his possible participation in the 2027 Ryder Cup.
The two-time major champion has paid off his outstanding fines, around $3 million, imposed for participating in LIV Golf events without the necessary releases.
The settlement also includes a commitment to play a minimum number of DP World Tour events, restoring his full eligibility for the European team.

European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald welcomed the resolution, expressing relief that the matter was settled sooner rather than later.
Speaking ahead of this week’s PGA Championship in Pennsylvania, Donald said he was pleased to avoid extra pressure of having to mediate between parties.
“I was glad a resolution had come to fruition sooner rather than later,” Donald stated. He added that prolonged disputes would have placed more responsibility on him to build bridges within the team.
The captain remarked, “even brothers fight,” while stressing that past experiences have shown the team room remains united when it matters most.

“Last two Ryder Cups, I’ve had to deal with the world of golf. It’s been very different, but when it comes to the Ryder Cup in the team room, I think they’re all pretty aligned,” Donald explained.
He expressed confidence that players will set aside personal differences and egos for the common goal of winning the prestigious team competition.
Rahm, who boasts an impressive Ryder Cup record of 9 wins, 5 losses, and 3 halves, had earlier rejected a similar offer extended to other LIV Golf players at the start of 2026.
He had also withdrawn his appeal against the fines.
The development is a huge boost for Team Europe ahead of the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in Ireland.
With Rahm back in the fold, Donald can count on one of golf’s biggest stars as he builds a competitive squad.
