Jannik Sinner defeated Casper Ruud 6-4, 6-4 to win the Italian Open, capping off another remarkable milestone in his rapidly growing career.
With the victory in Rome, Sinner completed a historic achievement by winning all nine ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, becoming only the second player in tennis history after Novak Djokovic to accomplish the feat.
Significantly, Sinner ended Italy’s 50-year wait for a men’s singles champion at the Italian Open.
The last Italian man to win the title in Rome was Adriano Panatta back in 1976.
Speaking after the match, Sinner admitted the occasion brought pressure for both players.

“There was a lot of tension on both sides and it was not perfect tennis from both of us.”
“But I’m really, really happy. It’s been an incredible last two-and-a-half months.”
The Italian star continues to dominate on the ATP Tour and is now unbeaten in 34 consecutive ATP Masters 1000 matches, further highlighting his status as the player to beat heading into the clay-court Grand Slam season.
With French Open set to take place from May 24, Sinner is widely considered the favorite for the title, especially following the injury setback suffered by Carlos Alcaraz.
Should Sinner go on to triumph at Roland Garros, it would mark the first French Open title of his career.
