Is Psv Starlet Xavi Simons Named In Van Gaal Netherlands Squad?

Louis van Gaal has named his Netherlands squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, with PSV Eindhoven midfielder Xavi Simons having been nominated to Louis van Gaal’s Netherlands team for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The uncapped Simons is certainly the most eye-catching selection, and he is a reward for a strong season.
Simons has 10 goals and four assists in 21 games across all competitions and is considered one of the country’s brightest emerging prospects.
Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay of Barcelona have been included, as has Wout Weghorst, who is presently on loan at Besiktas from Burnley.
The squad includes three Premier League players, including captain and Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk, Nathan Ake of Manchester City, and Tyrell Malacia of Manchester United. Sven Botman of Newcastle, on the other hand, was unable to compete.
Other notable omissions include Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch and Ajax’s Brian Brobbey.

Jasper Cillessen, the seasoned goalkeeper who was Van Gaal’s first-choice shot-stopper at the 2014 World Cup, is also out.
The Netherlands kick off their World Cup campaign against Senegal on November 21, followed by Ecuador four days later and the host nation Qatar on November 29.
Van Gaal is on his third stint as coach of the Netherlands, having led the squad to a third-place finish in Brazil eight years ago.

This followed the Oranje’s appearance in the 2010 World Cup final, where they were defeated by Spain.

The Dutch failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, but their path to Qatar was made easier after leading their group with 23 points from 10 games – two more than Turkey, who were eventually defeated by Portugal in the play-off semi-finals.
