During The Hundred, the 35-year-old English batter supplied a sample that revealed “trace levels of a prohibited drug.”

The Scorchers released a statement in which they acknowledged their mutual decision to end Evans’ contract for the 2022–23 campaign.

Laurie Evans and Perth Scorchers have agreed to mutually terminate his BBL contract after his positive drugs test

When the Scorchers won their fourth Big Bash championship in January, Evans was named player of the game.

The Surrey and Manchester Originals player claimed that the test result left him “shocked” and insisted that he has “never taken any illegal drugs.”

The Scorchers will now search for a replacement before the 20-over competition begins on December 17.
