The Scorchers released a statement in which they acknowledged their mutual decision to end Evans’ contract for the 2022–23 campaign.

The Surrey and Manchester Originals player claimed that the test result left him “shocked” and insisted that he has “never taken any illegal drugs.”
The Scorchers will now search for a replacement before the 20-over competition begins on December 17.
