Newsypeople- Even though France lost 2-1 to Spain in the Euro 2024 semifinals, which was very sad for them, head coach Didier Deschamps stayed strong when talking to reporters after the game. When someone asked about what would happen with his job as coach of the national team, Deschamps did not answer directly.

He said that it is up to the Federation President to decide. The President has already shown support for him and wants him to lead France until the World Cup in the year 2026.

Didier Deschamps said it was a hard loss but did not want to make any judgments about how the team played or his job until the tournament was finished. He complimented Spain, saying they proved the good skill they showed during all of the competition.

The French coach stayed firm even though there was a lot of pressure after his team was out in the semifinals. People thought France would do very well before the tournament started, but their games had many ups and downs and they did not attack strongly enough.

Famous goal-scorer Kylian Mbappe, who will soon become part of the Real Madrid team, confessed that his Euro 2024 performance was “a failure” because he only scored one goal from a penalty kick. Mbappe’s difficulties reflected France’s general problems in attacking play, with Antoine Griezmann also not performing at his best level.

Even with the disappointment, Deschamps thinks that what they learned from this tournament will help France in the future, especially for the 2026 World Cup. The coach still believes he can guide the team to win more and is committed to fulfilling his contract with the Federation.

After France’s Euro 2024 journey ends, the attention now turns to what comes next. With Deschamps leading the team, Les Bleus aims to come back even stronger. They are determined to show that losing in the semifinals was just a small bump on their way toward success and greatness again.
