AS FAR have formally written to Confederation of African Football (CAF) to oppose the appointment of Jean Jacques Ndala Ngambo as referee for the first leg of the Champions League final.

They are demanding his immediate replacement and do not want him to officiate the match.
AS FAR based its objection on controversy surrounding the AFCON final between Morocco and Senegal, where Ndala did not caution Senegal players who left the pitch on their coach’s instructions.
The Moroccan team also questioned his credibility, citing his absence from FIFA’s list of referees selected for the World Cup.

Initially, CAF had appointed Amin Mohamed Omar for the match.
However, Mamelodi Sundowns raised concerns over his regional links to AS FAR, prompting CAF to make a change.
With Ndala now appointed and facing opposition from AS FAR, CAF is expected to hold an urgent meeting after both teams expressed dissatisfaction with the officiating arrangements for the first leg in Pretoria.
