Travis Kelce (the Kansas City Chiefs tight end) talked about the graduation ceremony speech given by his teammate Harrison Butker which has been causing controversy. Kelce admitted there were criticisms about Butker’s speech where he was seen to downplay women’s careers and promote traditional gender roles among other things. These included abortion, euthanasia, IVF, surrogacy, and the LGBTQ+ community.
However, Kelce remained upbeat saying that even though there may be some things said or done that people don’t agree with – we all have flaws but at the end of the day he believes in Butker as a great person and also a teammate of his. I don’t agree with 90% of what he said in that speech,” Kelce stated on the “New Heights” podcast addressing Butker’s comments. “It was just a little too religious for me but I’m not one to judge someone off their beliefs.” According to these words, Kelce made it clear where he stands concerning Butker’s belief system.
