According to sources, on November 13, 2022, Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Kernodle’s boyfriend, Ethan Chapin, were all fatally murdered in a house off-campus in Moscow.

The suspect attended a local university and lived close to where the victims were found. He was arrested in connection with the stabbing deaths of four University of Idaho students in November.

University Police helped authorities carry out search warrants at the student’s office and apartment, both of which were located on the university’s Pullman campus, as soon as the university received confirmation that the student was majoring in criminal justice.

Why Was Bryan Christopher Kohberger Arrested?

Bryan was detained in his native Pennsylvania and charged with four charges of first-degree murder and criminal burglary in connection with the stabbing deaths of four University of Idaho students in November, according to Latah County Prosecutor Bill Thompson.

Two law enforcement sources briefed on the inquiry reportedly told CNN that after tracing the ownership of that Elantra back to Kohberger, detectives limited their focus to him.

Additionally, Bryan’s DNA matched DNA found at the crime location, proving that Kohberger may have left the area and traveled to Pennsylvania after the crime indicated a trustworthy source.

The surveillance team with the FBI had been following the suspect for several days in the region where he was detained, connecting the dots and scraps of evidence.

While prosecutors and detectives from the Moscow Police Department, the Idaho State Police, and the FBI attempted to establish sufficient probable cause for an arrest warrant, authorities had Bryan under observation.
