The cop who arrested the pregnant woman was criticized after the incident when the video of it went viral.

When she was driving too fast, the police were only doing their jobs; they were not looking to check if she was pregnant or if she had broken the law.

As a result, there was widespread interest in the story, and everyone wanted to know what her charges were.

Vilmaris Montalvo, Pregnant Teacher, Stopped And Arrested

After having surgery and then driving back to the hospital to pick up her spouse, Montalvo was stopped and taken into custody.

She was detained by the local police before she arrived at the hospital. She pulled over and explained her position after noticing a Fort Worth police cruiser was following her for a distance of many miles. Police asked her to come out as soon as she stopped and pulled over. You are under arrest, ma’am, and don’t make me pull you out, the police commanded.

She broke down in tears and admitted that she was expecting a child and was concerned about it. Police retorted, “Why do you think that just because you’re pregnant, you don’t have to follow the rules?”

Montalvo was detained and taken to jail after failing to reach the hospital. But after receiving a few tickets, she was let go.

But she had a lifetime punishment for that day, and she routinely experienced panic episodes following an arrest. She had trouble sleeping at night, and her life was chaotic.

The major concern for Montalvo was the health of her child, and she admitted it was difficult for her to believe she would be able to handle any situation.

What Did Vilmaris Montalvo Do? Where Is She Now?

After receiving many fines, Montalvo was released after being detained for driving too fast. Vilmaris was expecting a child at the time of her arrest and was worried about it.

She undoubtedly has her family and kids with her, but she doesn’t like to drive by herself. She worries that the police might find her once more.

Vilmaris began experiencing anxiety after being detained, which impacted her pregnancy.

She then made the decision to complain about her violation of not slowing down to pass an emergency vehicle.

On August 3, she made a complaint for the first time, and the matter was dismissed after finding no policy violations during the traffic stop.

The woman didn’t agree with the choice, so she complained again on August 25, and the officer, James Reynolds, was suspended for seven days as a result.

The complaint changed course, and the oversight office established a webpage and form to receive complaints about Fort Worth police personnel.

Within a week of them receiving complaints, 125 had been submitted.

There were therefore nine different allegations made against Reynolds after the error sparked the investigation.

Furthermore, Reynolds claimed that when he conducted the arrest, he was ignorant of Montalvo’s gender or ethnicity.

Although Reynolds was accused of nine different offenses, Montalvo will never get over what she went through. She still fears being taken into custody.
