Total shut down sees all shops closed and taxi services halted on deadline given to immigrants to leave South Africa (video)

Anti-immigrant groups in South Africa gave undocumented black immigrants June 30, 2026, as the deadline to leave their country.

Today, the D-Day, crowds of anti-immigrant demonstrators moved through the centre of the city, South Africa’s financial capital, where most shops were closed, workers stayed home, and transport hubs were empty.

A Nigerian woman went around her neighbourhood, filming the deserted business areas.

The video shows that all shops were closed. Even businesses owned by South Africans were closed. Taxi services were also halted and the streets were almost deserted.
