Five youth footballers d!e in Kebbi auto crash

Five youths travelling from the Ambursa area of Birnin Kebbi for a friendly match have d!ed in a motor accident along the Airport Road in Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

 

The deceased have been identified as Abbas, Auwal, Abdullahi, Abdulsalam, and Alhaji Dan Abu.

 

According to Daily Trust, the accident occurred when a Toyota Sienna vehicle conveying 18 of them for the match lost control and somersaulted.

 

While on a condolence visit to the palace of the District Head of Ambursa on behalf of Governor Nasir Idris, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Abubakar Umar Dutsinmari, recalled that the Governor witnessed the accident firsthand and personally participated in the rescue operation.

 

He said Governor Idris directed emergency measures to save the lives of those that sustained injuries in the accident.

 

He described the loss of the five young men as a great tragedy, not only to the Ambursa community, but also to Kebbi State as a whole.

 

He assured them of the governor’s continued sympathy and support to the victims and their families.

 

Dutsinmari, who was at the district head’s palace with the commissioner of information and that of the works Ministry, presented the sum of N20m to the families of the deceased, N1m to each of those that sustained injuries and N2m to other occupants of the vehicle on behalf of the governor.
