Daddy Freeze tenders public apology after backlash for not missing white dress code at Alexx Ekubo

Media personality, Daddy Freeze, has tendered an apology after he received heat online for failing to adhere to the White dress code instruction for all attendees at the Service of Songs for actor, Alexx Ekubo.

Media personality Daddy Freeze has issued a public apology following social media backlash for violating the mandatory white dress code at the Service of Songs for late actor Alexx Ekubo.

In a video statement shared online, the broadcaster explained that he missed the dress code instruction because he failed to read the bottom of the physical invitation. He defended his oversight by noting that he does not follow the late actor or his family members on social media, which prevented him from seeing any digital updates regarding the event.

“I don’t roll with Nigerian celebrities, mostly actors,” Daddy Freeze stated, explaining why he did not receive information about the dress code through industry peers. He added that he and the late actor did not follow each other online prior to the tragedy.

Beyond the oversight, the media personality questioned the organizers’ choice of attire for the memorial service. He argued that wearing white was culturally inappropriate for a young man who died in his prime at age 40.

According to Daddy Freeze, his own cultural traditions dictate that black should be worn to mourn a young person. He noted that because the late actor was significantly younger than him, wearing white to the service would have felt inappropriate, expressing confusion over why the color was selected for the occasion.
