The 3-year-old child death in Edgecomb who was discovered not breathing at a residence near Edgecomb on Sunday is being investigated by Maine State Police.
According to the Lincoln County News, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said Lincoln County officers arrived to the location just after 7:30 a.m. and transported the 3-year-old child to LincolnHeath’s Miles Campus in Damariscotta. At the hospital, the child was pronounced dead.
The cause of death was not disclosed, but an autopsy was completed on Monday at the state medical examiner’s office in Augusta.
According to Moss, the investigators stayed at the house late Sunday night and returned Monday.
State police were called in, as is usual protocol in the event of a child fatality in the state.
