Chris Pratt Addresses His Voice Choice For ‘The Garfield Movie”

The way Chris Pratt approached voicing Garfield in “The Garfield Movie” was simple and showed his experience in animation. Mark Dindal, the director, first suggested that Pratt use his natural voice to play the famous orange cat, a decision that was consistent with Pratt’s previous roles in animated films. This method allowed Pratt who had already lent his voice to characters in “The Lego Movie” series and “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” also get used to voice acting.

He used the character Andy Dwyer from “Parks and Recreation” which he played as his reference point while giving Garfield’s lines a lazy and sarcastic touch to bring out the laid-back nature of this fictional feline friend.

This approach aimed not only at imitating Andy Dwyer’s tone and style but also at grasping what makes Jim Davis’ creation so charming and witty on its terms. To him, it felt like he had to ‘go back into Andy Dwyer from Parks and Rec and put a little bit more of a yawn in my voice’ emphasizing that his delivery had to be adjusted according to what the story required.

However, Pratt’s depiction takes on a new urgency and resolve as events unfold revealing that Garfield is involved in some kind of daring theft. This change indicates that the cat’s personality undergoes development throughout the movie from being just an indoor pet who enjoys sleeping all day long to somebody who has reluctantly taken part in an adventure.

According to Jim Davis, the creator of Garfield, “Pratt was the perfect choice to play this role given his ability to be funny and relate to people at an emotional level.” Pratt was able to pull off the role by showcasing his comedic timing along with depth in character portrayal which impressed the audience.

He mentioned that Pratt’s interpretation of the character brought out all aspects of it even the humor which can sometimes border on being ridiculous while still capturing its essence during more serious moments thereby showing his range as a voice-over artist.

The Evolution of Chris Pratt’s Acting Career

Christopher Michael Pratt, known professionally as Chris Pratt, was born on June 21, 1979, in Virginia, Minnesota. Pratt started his acting career relatively late compared to most of his peers in Hollywood. He moved around a lot when he was young, and for a while lived in Lake Stevens, Washington where he took part in school plays as well as some acting classes at community college.

However, it was while working as a waiter at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company in Maui, Hawaii that he got his big break; actress/director Rae Dawn Chong noticed him there and cast him in her first directorial effort – Cursed Part 3, a short horror film. This brought him to Los Angeles where he began his professional acting career.

He played Harold Brighton “Bright” Abbott on the WB drama series Everwood, which was Pratt’s first big television part. When Everwood got canceled he joined The OC for its fourth season where he played Ché Cook – an activist-type character. Pratt’s ability to play a variety of different roles became even more evident when he appeared in movies such as Wanted and Jennifer’s Body before landing the role that would change everything for him – Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation (NBC). He was only supposed to be a temporary character there but his portrayal of Andy became one the funniest and most beloved aspects of that whole show thus proving beyond doubt what kind of comedic timing this guy has got!

Before making it big, however, there were some challenges as far as landing parts went because at one point people felt like they could not put him into anything due to their perception of his size alone. This became particularly clear during casting sessions for ‘Moneyball’ when they thought he looked too heavy even though had commonly been cast as younger or somewhat immature characters prior despite this being unrelated altogether to what happened next.

In 2014, Pratt’s career changed when he starred in two studio major movies, The Lego Movie and Guardians of the Galaxy. This made it clear to everyone that he was among Hollywood’s top leading actors, especially after the latter became one of the highest-grossing films that year. His depiction of Peter Quill / Star-Lord within the Marvel Cinematic Universe stood out most due to his witty yet charming delivery while portraying this character. With such achievements under his belt, it was only natural for him to venture into bigger franchises such as ‘Jurassic World’ where he replaced Josh Brolin as Owen Grady who had to be trained alongside real velociraptors to bring out an authentic performance.

What sets Pratt apart from other actors is his ability to do any kind of role ranging from comedy down through drama up until action or even science fiction if need be during any given time since he has demonstrated this diversity throughout various films like ‘The Magnificent Seven’, ‘Passengers’ among others not forgetting about different parts played within the ‘Jurassic World’ trilogy thus far which has also helped him build a more solid foundation as one of Hollywood’s most flexible as well as profitable stars ever known till date. Pratt’s transformation into an international movie sensation starting as just some guy waiting tables on Maui serves as nothing less than a true living proof of both his skillfulness and never-say-die attitude towards acting.
