Sarah McNally, a 41-year-old Irish immigrant and bartender, was stabbed to death by her boyfriend, Marcin Pieciak, 36, inside the Céilí House pub in Maspeth, Queens, on Saturday evening. The incident unfolded around 6:35 p.m., when police responded to a 911 call at the pub. Upon arrival, they found McNally with a stab wound to her neck and Pieciak with stab wounds to his back and neck. Both were rushed to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where McNally was pronounced dead, while Pieciak was initially listed in critical condition but later stabilized.

The couple had been living together in Glendale for about a year. Pieciak allegedly attacked McNally with a knife in each hand, leading to her fatal injury. Following the attack, Pieciak turned the knives on himself, inflicting self-inflicted wounds. When police arrived, they attempted to disarm Pieciak, but he refused to comply, leading to his tasering. Both individuals were taken to NYC Health and Hospitals in Elmhurst in critical condition.

McNally, originally from Longford, Ireland, had been working as a civil employee for the Irish Prison Service and had been in the United States for about ten years. She was described as a “wonderful young woman, bright, vivacious, witty, and charismatic” by a parliament member serving Longford. The incident has left the community in shock, with many expressing deep sorrow and condolences to McNally’s family and friends.
