Dateline: Is Sherri Papini Going To Jail Now? Details Of Her Charges

The phoney kidnapping story of Sherri Papini will run on Dateline NBC on Friday at 9 p.m. Papini, in particular, has agreed to a plea deal in which she admits to faking her kidnapping in 2016.

In addition, she faces a sentence of eight to fourteen months in jail for mail fraud and lying to a federal officer. She had also received over $30,000 from the California Victim’s Compensation Board.

According to her latest plea agreement, she must pay about $300,000 to several government compensation funds. She is not in prison, however, as she was freed on a $120,000 bond on March 9, 2022.

Sherri Papini defrauded the California Victim’s Compensation Board by obtaining over $30,000. She lied to a federal investigator and a detective from the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office in August 2020.
