Princess Beatrice and Paolo Liuzzo relationship began in 2005, and was marked by a whirlwind romance that ended in scandal and tragedy. Beatrice, the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, was 17 when she started dating Liuzzo, who was 24 at the time. Despite their seven-year age gap and Liuzzo’s already established criminal past, the pair managed to keep their relationship secret for almost a year before it was revealed to the public

Paolo Liuzzo, a New York-born playboy and son of a plastics millionaire, was known for his fast lifestyle, including heavy drug use and gambling. His relationship with Princess Beatrice, who he referred to as his “best friend” Bea, was kept secret for almost a year before it was revealed to the public. Despite the seven-year age difference and Liuzzo’s questionable history, including a manslaughter charge and a suspended sentence for assault, Prince Andrew and his wife Sarah Ferguson approved of the pair’s relationship.

Their romance was marked by a drunken brawl in Worcester, Massachusetts, on May 5, 2002, where a 19-year-old student, Jonathan R. Duchatellier, was killed. Liuzzo was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder but was later charged with manslaughter, which was dismissed at the request of prosecutors. He pleaded guilty to assault and battery in 2004, leading to a suspended sentence and community service.

The relationship between Beatrice and Liuzzo was strained by his legal troubles and his lifestyle. Rumors of his infidelity and gambling debts with loan sharks further complicated their relationship. Beatrice and Liuzzo split in May 2006, with reports of the manslaughter charge causing a scandal. It was claimed that the Queen had intervened, calling a crisis summit with the Yorks and Beatrice, who was ordered to break off the relationship.

Liuzzo’s life took a tragic turn in February, when he was found dead in a Miami hotel room from a suspected overdose. His death was a tragic end for someone who had the potential to marry into the royal family had his life choices been different. Despite his questionable past and the end of his relationship with Beatrice, Liuzzo had managed to maintain close relationships with members of the royal family, including Prince Andrew and Fergie, who referred to him as her “second mother”
