Joe Hart Backs Iheanacho to Shine at Celtic

Former England goalkeeper, Joe Hart has tipped Kelechi Iheanacho to become a major asset for Celtic following his summer move to Glasgow.

Iheanacho, who joined the Scottish champions as a free agent after parting ways with Sevilla, has reunited with his former Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers and ex-teammate Kasper Schmeichel.

Speaking about the Nigerian forward, Hart recalled his early days at Manchester City:

“Kelechi came in early, he came in from nowhere when he joined us and was pushed straight into the first team,” Hart said.

“At first, I wasn’t sure, but his ability just shone through. He’s got a really cool, calm head and a personality that grew on all of us senior players.”

Hart believes Iheanacho’s biggest challenge has been consistency but insists that, under Rodgers, he can rediscover his best form.

“If he can get into a rhythm, which is what he’s lacked over the last couple of years, he’s a really dangerous player,” Hart continued.

“He’s a top-end striker, so calm with his finishing and very hard to read. His left foot is so sharp – he can open up or reverse it. With rhythm and fitness, he can be a real asset for the club.”

Hart added that Iheanacho will benefit from the creativity around him at Celtic and expects Rodgers to unlock his full potential once again.
