Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen received a hero’s welcome in Istanbul on Wednesday night as he returned to Galatasaray.
Thousands of passionate supporters gathered at the airport to greet the 26-year-old, whose return has sparked immense excitement among fans who already see him as a modern-day club icon.
Galatasaray have now officially completed the permanent signing of Osimhen from SSC Napoli for a record-breaking fee of €75 million — the highest transfer fee in Turkish football history.
This move eclipses the previous Süper Lig record of €19.5 million paid by Fenerbahce for Youssef En-Nesyri.
Osimhen impressed during his loan spell in the 2024/25 season, netting 37 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions.
His incredible form played a key role in Galatasaray’s domestic double triumph, as they lifted both the Turkish Süper Lig title and the Turkish Cup.
Beyond his goalscoring prowess, Osimhen earned admiration for his relentless work rate and decisive performances in big moments, cementing his status as a fan favourite.
His impact convinced the club to commit to a long-term deal.
He is reportedly scheduled to undergo his medical on Thursday morning, after which the club will officially unveil him to the fans and media at the Rams Park.
Galatasaray kick off their 2025/26 campaign against Gaziantep, and Osimhen will be eager to replicate the form that made his loan spell such a resounding success.
