Newsypeople- Rangers have secured a one-year loan deal for Colombian winger Oscar Cortes from French club RC Lens, with an obligation to buy him permanently in the summer of 2025.
The 20-year-old previously joined Rangers in January on a six-month loan with an option to buy, but his stint at Ibrox was cut short due to a severe injury sustained in February.

Despite the setback, Cortes made a positive impression, playing seven games under manager Philippe Clement. The young winger is excited to return to Rangers, stating,
“It was an honour and privilege for me to join the club in January and I was enjoying my football under the manager and playing alongside my team-mates.”
Clement is also pleased to have Cortes back, saying,
“He was a big asset to the squad when he came to the club and he showed the qualities that attracted him to us. Oscar suffered a setback, but he has worked tirelessly during his recovery and I am sure all of the fans are looking forward to seeing him again next season.”

Rangers’ director of recruitment, Nils Koppen, revealed that Cortes had been on the club’s radar for a long time, with the winger impressing at the South American Under-20 Championship in early 2023. Koppen believes Cortes can be an important player for the team going forward, stating,
“He has really loved being at the club and we feel he will get even better when he is fully fit again working under the manager and his coaching staff.”
The loan deal with an obligation to buy is seen as a positive move for both Rangers and Cortes, as the young winger looks to make a lasting impact at Ibrox and help the team achieve success in the Scottish Premiership.
