Newsypeople – Reality TV star Todd Chrisley has been dismissed from his position at a prison chapel, according to his lawyer. This news comes as a significant development in the ongoing saga surrounding the Chrisley family’s legal troubles.
Chrisley, known for his show “Chrisley Knows Best,” was recently sentenced to 12 years in prison following his conviction on 12 counts of tax evasion and fraud earlier this year.
Despite his incarceration, he had been working alongside the chaplain at FPC Pensacola, Florida, organizing religious services for inmates.
However, prison officials have now relieved Chrisley of his administrative duties at the chapel. His lawyer, Jay Surgent, confirmed this information to TMZ, stating that Chrisley had been doing a good job in his role.
The reason for Chrisley’s dismissal appears to stem from his interactions with participants in the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) at the facility. Prison officials reportedly objected to Chrisley speaking with inmates who spend part of their jail time outside the facility, citing concerns about him communicating about his own incarceration with individuals who have access to the outside world.

While the exact nature of Chrisley’s conversations with RDAP participants remains unclear, his attorney believes that staff were primarily concerned about him discussing his legal situation with those who have connections to the outside community.
Despite his dismissal from administrative duties, Chrisley still retains the ability to attend religious services at the prison. However, his family is facing a difficult time following his sentencing and subsequent loss of employment.
Speaking on their podcast “Chrisley Confessions” before reporting to prison, Todd Chrisley expressed his faith during this challenging period, saying,
“I know all of you guys are wanting to know every detail that is going on in our lives, and I have to ask that you respect that we’re not allowed to talk about it at present time. There will come a time.”
The Chrisley family has consistently maintained their innocence regarding the tax fraud charges, claiming that a trusted employee had been stealing and blackmailing them. Their case has drawn significant media attention and public interest, particularly given the reality TV star’s prominent position in American entertainment culture.
