Newsypeople- Kate Waterhouse, a popular Aussie socialite and part of the famous racing family, has sold her Potts Point flat. The 40-year-old fashionista got $955,000 for the cozy two-bedroom, one-bath unit.
Waterhouse bought the investment property back in 2010 for $525,000. She had been renting it out for a hefty $900 per week. The modern city pad is in the lively Kings Cross area. It features an airy open layout and private balcony.
The apartment was first listed for sale at $900,000 in January but did not find a buyer. It went up for auction later in the year but did not sell under the hammer. Experts think it could now fetch around $1050 per week in rent. The unit is part of a 25-unit complex built in 1998.
Kate Waterhouse is the daughter of famed horse trainer Gai Waterhouse and bookie Robbie Waterhouse. In 2020, she and husband Luke Ricketson, a former rugby star, splurged on a $17.8 million Balmoral Beach mansion. The lavish five-bedroom stunner has incredible water views.
Kate’s brother Tom also owns an impressive $13 million beachfront home nearby. The Waterhouse name looms large in Australian horse racing circles.
Kate and Luke got married in a romantic Sicilian ceremony in 2012 with 80 loved ones present. Kate wore a gorgeous Vera Wang gown. The couple now has two adorable daughters – Sophia Edie and Grace Gabrie.
The choice to sell the home in Potts Point seems to fit with the couple’s goal. This goal is to grow their group of homes that make money. As famous horse racing people, the Waterhouse family often makes news. They make news with the homes they buy and sell. They also make news with their wealthy way of living.
