Nickelodeon Star Victoria Justice Speaks Out On Dan Schneider Allegations: ‘I Was Treated Unfairly!’
In a recent interview with Marie Claire for its May 2024 issue, Justice talked about her experience working with producer Dan Schneider and the culture at Nickelodeon back then.
Victoria Justice said that the documentary depicted Schneider’s ego, adding that it often clouded his better judgment and thus affected the way he would treat people, including her, on set.
She said,
“Something that was very evident in the documentary is that Dan had a very large ego. Sometimes that ego clouded his better judgment and affected the way he treated people, and there were times I felt like I was being treated unfairly.”
While Justice did not detail what she meant by mistreatment, she insisted that it was never anything sexual but rather moments that she felt were in poor taste.
She clarified,
“Quiet on Set detailed Schneider’s tenure at Nickelodeon and his alleged inappropriate conduct. It also covered allegations of sexual abuse, specifically from former dialogue coach Brian Peck. Justice clarified that her mistreatment was ‘never anything sexual’ but that certain moments ‘were in poor taste.'”

Schneider now admits to past mistakes and regrets his behavior, saying that he owes some people a strong apology.
Schneider said,
“I wish I could go back and fix that.”
Though Justice talked about how Schneider made a difference in her career and how she is grateful for the opportunity he gave her, she made sure to clarify that she and Schneider have a complex relationship.
She said,
“I’m not condoning any of his behavior. At the end of the day, my relationship with Dan is a very complex one: I met him when I was 12 years old, and he’s the person that gave me this big break.”
In response to Schneider’s acknowledgment of his past actions, Justice said that she believes he realizes his mistakes and wishes he could turn back time and fix it. Schneider himself has regretted not giving all those he worked with the same opportunities he received.
Justice added,
“After watching his apology, I think he recognizes that he did a lot of things wrong, and I think if he could step back into a time machine, he would do a lot of things differently.”
Justice’s comments add to a growing conversation among former Nickelodeon stars about the network’s work environment during that period.
The network, in response to the documentary, reiterated its commitment to investigating formal complaints and maintaining a safe workplace environment.
“Quiet On Set” Producers Response To Dan Schneider’s Lawsuit
According to reports, the producers of “Quiet on Set” have not yet responded to requests for comment on Dan Schneider’s defamation lawsuit.
The lawsuit was filed by Schneider on May 1, 2024 in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging that the docuseries falsely implied he was involved in or facilitated child sexual abuse.
In the lawsuit, Schneider refers to “Quiet on Set” as a “hit job” that destroyed his “legacy and reputation” through false statements and implications that he is a child sexual abuser.
He claims he “had no knowledge of” sexual abuse happening on any of his Nickelodeon shows, “was not complicit in the abuse,” and “was not a child sexual abuser himself.”
The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages and a court order forcing producers to remove allegedly defamatory portions of the docuseries or have it completely taken down, as well as a trial.
Schneider has also released a statement saying he has “no choice but to take legal action” after seeing the docuseries and its trailer.
However, as of the latest reports, the producers of “Quiet on Set” have not publicly responded to Schneider’s lawsuit or provided any comments to media outlets regarding the ongoing legal battle.
The current status of the lawsuit and whether it will proceed to trial remains to be seen as the legal proceedings unfold.
