Choreographer Darius Barnes Dies @ 34 Years Old- Famous US-based choreographer and director Darius Barnes passed away today at the age of 34. The talented performer, who was nominated for a Grammy for his performance, made his Metropolitan Opera debut in Terence Blanchard’s staging of Charles M. Blow’s stirring autobiography, “Fire sealed up in my bones.”
After getting admitted to the New York Choreographic Institute, the artist started his career as a choreographer. He was requested to write a piece for the New York City Ballet in honor of the institute’s tenth anniversary.
His most notable work as an assistant director was on the ground-breaking movies Smash (2012), Arthur Miller Foundation Honors (2020), and Halston (2021). At the age of 34, Darius Barnes passed away. A friend and colleague choreographer of his verified the artist’s passing on Facebook. His death’s precise cause is still a mystery. Rumors suggest that he may have died from disease, though.
The young dancer has participated in the movement’s teaching staff and judging panel, as well as the School of American Ballet’s alumni advisory committee on diversity and inclusion (NYC). Additionally, he has given master courses at Operation Triple Threat in Barbados, the Broadway Collective, the Broadway Dance Center, and the Baltimore School of the Arts.
The artist teaches in the dance conservatories at Greenwich Dance Studio in Greenwich, Connecticut, and St. Paul’s School for Girls in Baltimore, Maryland.
