
Facebook posts attributed to some Yoruba social media users who claim to be Yoruba patriots have sparked concern over alleged anti-Igbo incitement, with screenshots appearing to show calls for violence against Igbo people living in Yorubaland.
One post attributed to Temmy Okanlomo describes Yoruba conservatives as the future of southwestern politics and calls for efforts to bring Igbos to their knees by targeting everything associated with them. Other comments in the screenshots contain threats against Igbo-owned shops and businesses and suggest forcing Igbos to leave the region.
The allegations have emerged amid reports of the killing of Ifeanyi Chukwu, his wife and their four children, an Igbo family reportedly k!lled in Oloba Village, Lagelu, Ibadan, on 22 September 2026.
According to the information provided, Oyo State Police arrested three suspects, Hammed Akinbami, Akinbami Ojo and Padonu Edward, in connection with the k!lling. Police reportedly said the victims were tied and thrown into a river. The wife’s remains have reportedly been recovered, while the others remain missing.
