A 19-year-old woman from Makwika Village in Hwange has been sentenced to prison after launching a violent assault on her husband, which included grabbing his genitals and pouring boiling water on him. The attack reportedly occurred after the husband confronted her over suspicious messages found on her phone.
According to details presented at the Hwange Magistrate’s Court, the incident happened on 2 June 2025. The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said the woman, whose identity was not disclosed in court papers, reacted with violence when questioned by her husband about the messages.
“She slapped him, grabbed his private parts, dragged him into the kitchen, and poured boiling water on his lower body, causing serious injuries,” the NPAZ said in a statement issued on 9 July.
A neighbour who attempted to intervene was also attacked and scalded with boiling water on her chest, resulting in her hospitalisation.
“A concerned neighbour who attempted to intervene was also burnt with boiling water on her chest and was hospitalised,” the NPAZ added.
Both victims were rushed to hospital for emergency treatment. A police report was later filed at ZRP Hwange, leading to the woman’s arrest and eventual prosecution.
