The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old woman, Aisha Muktar Hassan, for allegedly k!lling her 97-year-old grandmother in Daura Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesperson for the command, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, June 18, 2026 said an argument had broken out between the suspect and her paternal grandmother.
According to the PPRO, during the altercation, the suspect allegedly struck the elderly woman on the head with a wooden chair.
The victim was found unconscious in a pool of blood when police operatives responded to a distress report by the suspect’s father.
She was rushed to a hospital for treatment, but was later confirmed d3ad by the attending doctor.
DSP Sadiq added that the suspect was arrested during the investigation and confessed to the act.
“The Katsina State Police Command has succeeded in arresting one Aisha Muktar Hassan, f, aged 20, suspected to be in connection with the d3ath of her 97-year-old paternal grandmother, Hajiya Ummukhulsum Hassan, in Daura LGA, Katsina State,” the statement read.
“On June 12th, 2026, at about 8:00 pm, one Muktar Muhammad Hassan, m, aged 39, reported at Sabon Garin Daura Police Station that on the same date at about 7:00 pm, his daughter, one Aisha Muktar Hassan, had a misunderstanding with her grandmother.
“During the altercation, the suspect struck the victim on the head with a wooden chair.
“Upon receipt of the report, operatives responded swiftly to the scene, where the victim was found unconscious in a pool of blood.
“She was immediately evacuated to the nearest hospital for immediate medical attention.
“The victim was later confirmed d3ad by the doctor on duty while receiving treatment.
“During the investigation, the suspect was arrested, and she confessed to the commission of the offense.
“She is currently in custody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.
“Further developments will be communicated in due course.”
