Two suspects arrested over attack on vigilantes in Jos

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have arrested two suspects over an alleged attack on members of a vigilante group and the burning of their office in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The suspects, identified as Musa Iniwa Umar, 37, and Zaharadeen Abubakar, 32, were arrested at about 1:40 a.m. on October 27, 2026, in the NEPA area of Jos.

Security sources said troops of Sector 1, OPEP, carried out the arrests following allegations linking the suspects to the attack on the vigilante personnel and the subsequent setting ablaze of their office.

The suspects are currently in custody for further investigation and necessary action.

The arrests form part of ongoing security efforts by OPEP to address criminal activities and maintain peace across Plateau State.

Further details about the circumstances surrounding the incident and the extent of damage to the vigilante office were not immediately available.
