They are a testimony to failed governance - Katsina man writes as he shares haunting photos of two recently released kidnapped victims looking emaciate

One Khaleed Yazeedu from Katsina State, has shared shocking photos of two kidnapped victims who regained their freedom after enduring abuse and starvation in bandit captivity.

A security analyst, Usman, confirmed that the victims were freed after ransom payment.

Sharing the photos in a Facebook post on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, Khaleed described the horrific state of the victims as an indictment of our collective failure and a haunting testimony of failed governance.

“These are not just photographs, they are an indictment of our collective failure and a haunting testimony to the cost of failed governance,” he wrote.

“No human being should return from captivity looking as though they have been starved of both food and hope.

“Every visible rib tells a story of suffering, neglect, and a nation that has not fulfilled its most fundamental obligation to protect its people.

“The deepest shame is not only the cruelty of the bandits, but the repeated failure of those entrusted with power to prevent such horrors or bring lasting security to vulnerable communities.

“These survivors deserve far more than pity. They deserve justice, proper care, and a government whose greatest priority is safeguarding the lives and dignity of every citizen.”
