Tennis legend Serena Williams is making a return to professional tennis at 44, nearly four years after stepping away from the sport.
The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion has accepted a wildcard invitation to compete in doubles at the upcoming Queen’s Club grass-court tournament in London, set to begin next week.
Serena also appeared to confirm the news in a social media post, sharing a video with the caption, “Guess everybody heard the news,” while joking, “I gotta change my number.”
Her return has already sparked speculation that she could also feature at Wimbledon later this month, where she has won seven singles titles.

Serena last competed at the 2022 U.S. Open, where she said she was “evolving” away from tennis rather than retiring.
