Suspected armed robbers have st@bbed and k!lled the wife of a police inspector while attempting to rob her of her mobile phone at her residence in Gombe State.
The spokesperson for the State Police Command, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
He stated that the command had arrested two suspects in connection with a case of criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and culpable homicide involving the wife of a serving police officer at Wuro Shie Quarters, Gombe.
“The incident occurred at about 0435hrs on 26 September 2026, when some persons, armed with machetes and cutlasses, reportedly stormed the residence of Inspector Salisu Waziri, attached to the Safer Highway Patrol, at Wuro Shie Quarters,” the statement read.
According to the report, the assailants attempted to rob his wife, Mrs Aishatu Salisu, of her mobile phone, but she raised an alarm, following which one of the suspects attacked and stabbed her with a machete before fleeing the scene, leaving the handset behind.
Upon receipt of the report, the Pantami Divisional Patrol Team immediately mobilised to the scene and rushed the victim to the Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH), Gombe, where she was unfortunately certified d3ad.
Following the incident, the command commenced an investigation and intensified efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for the crime.
Consequently, on 26 September 2026, police operatives arrested Muhammad Bashir Sale, alias “Full”, aged 20, and Musa Sale Ahmad, alias “Abba”, aged 18, as suspects in the crime. Both suspects are residents of Wuro Shie Quarters, Gombe.
During the preliminary investigation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime, while one sharp knife was also recovered as an exhibit.
The case is currently under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (State CID), Gombe.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, has directed a discreet and thorough investigation into the case, with a view to ensuring that all persons found culpable are brought to justice.
The command assured members of the public that it remained committed to protecting lives and property and would continue to intensify efforts against criminal elements across the state.
Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons, movements or activities to the nearest police formation, while further developments will be communicated accordingly.
