Vinicius Junior’s contract situation at Real Madrid has become increasingly uncertain after negotiations over a new deal reportedly stalled, with the Brazil international now entering the final year of his current contract.
Just a year ago, renewal talks were widely expected to conclude without difficulty, with those close to the club reportedly confident that an agreement would be reached.
However, according to reports, the two sides have since moved significantly apart in negotiations. Spanish outlet Sport claims one of the main sticking points is Vinicius’ reported demand for a €15 million signing bonus, a figure Real Madrid are unwilling to accept.
The report adds that the club are signalling their long-term transfer strategy by moving to sign RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, who is represented by the same agency as Vinicius.
Both players are clients of Roc Nation, with the agency reportedly due in Madrid on Monday to complete the formalities surrounding Diomande’s proposed €120 million move to the Spanish giants. Club president Florentino Pérez had previously referenced that transfer fee during his election campaign.
While Diomande’s transfer is said to be nearing completion, Vinicius’ contract negotiations remain unresolved amid what reports describe as a period of significant change at Real Madrid. No agreement has yet been announced between the club and the 25-year-old forward over an extension to his current deal.
