
The Katsina State Police Command has successfully foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued four victims, including an infant.
This information was shared in a statement by the Command spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, which was made available to news reporters on Wednesday, June 18, in Katsina.
According to the statement, under the capable leadership of CP Bello Shehu, the Katsina Police Command thwarted a kidnap attempt in Mazare village, located in the Sabuwa Local Government Area of the state, successfully rescuing four individuals: three females and a baby girl.
The statement indicated that efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects involved in the incident.
The report details that on June 18, 2025, at approximately 12:21 AM, information was received regarding a suspected attack and attempted kidnapping in Mazare village by a group of suspected bandits. The assailants reportedly shot and injured two individuals, Sa’idu Isa, aged 37, and Sa’idu Wa’alam, aged 61, both from the same location, and abducted three females along with the baby.
Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) promptly mobilized a team of police operatives to the scene. A gun battle ensued, leading to the successful rescue of all four kidnapped victims unharmed, as the assailants fled due to the police’s superior firepower. The injured individuals were immediately transported to the hospital for urgent medical care, where they are currently receiving treatment and responding well.
The police department is intensifying efforts to arrest the suspects as the investigation continues.
