The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers, Segun Adeyemi, 32, and Abayomi Ajayi, 24, while they were allegedly attacking residents around the Shoprite Ikeja and Maryland axis.
In a statement on Thursday, October 2, the command spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, said operatives of the Ikeja Division responded swiftly to a distress call on 29 September around 7:15 p.m.
According to the command, operatives received reports that the suspects, who are allegedly members of a three-man gang, were attacking people within the vicinity. Officers swiftly mobilised to the scene, arrested two of the suspects, while the third managed to escape.
The operational motorcycle used by the gang was also recovered as evidence.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang had come from Mushin to Ikeja to carry out their criminal operations before they were intercepted by the police.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
The arrested suspects are currently in custody, and further investigations are underway to track down other accomplices.
All those involved will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, lauded the operatives for their swift and coordinated response. He also thanked members of the public whose timely information facilitated the arrests, reiterating the command’s resolve to rid Lagos of criminal elements.
Jimoh urged residents to continue providing credible and prompt information to security agencies to enhance crime prevention and response efforts across the state.
