The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one suspect in connection with the death of popular Afro-Fuji singer, Adesina Afeez, widely known as Destiny Boy.

According to the police, the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Homicide Section, for further investigation, while the suspect remains in custody, Punch reported.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Babaseyi Oluseyi, said investigations have commenced into the death of the 22-year-old singer and assured that updates will be provided as the probe continues.

News of Destiny Boy’s death broke on Sunday after disturbing videos showing his body being taken to a mortuary surfaced online, triggering widespread grief and speculation. In one of the viral clips, the late singer was seen lying in the back of a vehicle with cotton wool placed in his ears and nostrils.

Amid the speculation, an associate of the singer later shared a video explaining that Destiny Boy had been battling a private health challenge before his death.

Born Afeez Adeshina, Destiny Boy rose to fame with his Fuji-inspired sound and gained massive attention in 2019 after releasing a Fuji cover of Davido’s hit song If. He went on to release several tracks including Lamba, One Transaction, Gbese, Billion Dollar, Mio Gbonkankan and Lowkey.

Destiny Boy is survived by his partner, Iremide, and their child, whom they welcomed in November 2024.
